Ed Sheeran (3 concerts)

29 March – 1 April

Dunedin will be painting the town Ed during Easter 2018 as the global superstar descends on the city to play three concerts at the Forsyth Barr Stadium. The whole city will be a hive of activities, events and competitions.

Rally of Otago

13-15 April

For lovers of motorsport of all kinds, the Drivesouth Otago Rally Festival is a chance to indulge in petrol-fueled excitement as New Zealand's top rally drivers pit their skills against international competitors from across the globe, in a series of different events over 3 days.

Wild Dunedin NZ Festival of Nature

20 – 25 April

Get to know Dunedin’s wild side with over 60 events celebrating land, water, sea and sky, wildlife and lovers of nature. Many of the events are free and wildlife tourism operators are offering generous discounts. There are plenty of fun activities that will connect families to nature over the 6 day festival in the school holiday break.

iD Fashion week

2 – 6 May

A signature Dunedin event, forty-six emerging designers from around the globe will showcase the latest in fashion innovation and creativity as they compete for top prizes in this year’s prestigious iD International Emerging Designer Shows, to be held at the Dunedin Town Hall on Thursday May 3 and Friday May 4.

Puaka Matariki Festival

17 – 23 June

Puaka Matariki is a celebration of the Māori New Year, through a diverse citywide programme of community events with a focus on sharing stories, passing on knowledge and learning, remembering the dear departed, and planning for the year ahead.  Events include Toi Māori, visual art, literary works, music and dance performance events.

Midwinter Carnival

30 June

Celebrate the season with this vibrant and family friendly event featuring a giant illuminated lantern parade, stilt-walkers, dancers, drummers, food, bands, fireworks and more.

Cadbury Jaffa Race

20 July

An iconic event which combines the worlds steepest street with the iconic kiwi chocolate-orange sweet – Jaffas. Thousands are rolled down Baldwin Street in a bid to win the race and competition is fierce!

NZ International Science Festival

6 – 15 July

Over 150 science themed events from the informative to the awe-inspiring will take place all over the city.
