Since opening the southern hemisphere’s first public girl’s secondary school in 1871, we’ve offered the best in high school education and a powerful pathway to higher learning for generations of students.
Dunedin’s secondary schools teach over 40 internationally recognised subjects with extensive support for English language learners. Helping young students achieve their full potential, our schools ensure they learn and grow in a safe and secure environment.
Schools in Dunedin teach to the National Certificate in Education Achievement. Called NCEA, this is our main qualification at secondary school. NCEA is a unique way of learning at school.
By including both internal and external ways of seeing how you have learned – you can study towards credits in subjects that give you entry to our higher education institutions.
Accepted and recognised globally, you can also use your NCEA qualification to enter university and other higher education institutions in Dunedin or New Zealand and around the world.
Some of our schools also offer other global school level awards and qualifications like the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB).
